Dear Patients,

"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in
nothing great or small, large or petty, never
give in except to convictions of honor and good
sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the
apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." --
Winston Churchill
So every morning, when you wake up, put your
battle paint on and wage war by following the
plan, we are hammering this lipid-coated RNA
virus into oblivion. We get what we create, so
keep the pressure on. This fat coated virus
dissolves with alcohol or soap. We know that
warmer temperatures and higher humidity effect
virus survival. Warmer more humid days are
coming. We are moving our opponent into a
corner and we are going to win. It just takes
consistent determination and innovation from all
of us. Life will return to normal. The harder
we fight, the sooner good times will be with
us. We are courageous hard-working, innovative
Americans. What is courage? It is the ability
to go forward in the face of fear. Want a
little fire scarecrow? (click
this).
The numbers:
US: 216,722 cases
5,137 deaths 2.3%
fatality rate (up 0.2%)
Maryland: 2,758 cases
42 deaths 1.52%
fatality rate (STABLE)
(13% of tests in MD are
positive; 20,932 total tests; 664 have been
hospitalized)
Maryland remains very stable and
battle-ready.
Therapeutics:
-
Hydroxychloroquine+Azithromycin+Zinc
therapy is being used in many hospitals. It
is not readily available as an outpatient
treatment, but maybe in the near term. We
will have some answers soon from the
Columbia/Oz trial.
- Keep passing
the word about the use of passive transfer
of convalescent plasma
- Innovation is
on-going; here
is a vaccine patch that will add to our
weapons.
- There is a
company that
has made super monoclonal antibodies that
can tightly bind to the virus. This will
limit continued cell infection and
propagation of the infection. This is like
super convalescent plasma.
- My group is
talking to lots of helpful people; thank you
to all of you who have given me
suggestions. Our potential remedy might, I
repeat, might help the 20% of people who are
developing galloping inflammation in the
lungs from the COVID-19 infection that is
causing the shortness of breath from the
viral-induced inflammation (cells busting,
releasing inflammatory substance -
cytokines, that are like pouring salt on an
open wound).
On a fun musical note: (thank
you AK)
And on a TGIF much lighter note:
On a lighter note: (thanks
again JF)
