Dear Patients,

|
Well, here we are at the beginning
of another week. Today is a
rainy, dark day. With
everything we are going through,
initially, as the day starts, you
might feel that it's hard to be
optimistic. And then you may turn on
the news and hear about the bad
weather, followed by the business
reporters talking about the state of
the economy. And now, the
farmers are throwing away freshly
picked crops due to no demand and
the logistics that keep the food
from getting to market. Yes,
you can let this all pull you down.
But do not go the way of self-pity.
I've mentioned Rolf Dobelli, the
author of numerous books, in the
past. Chapter 24 from The
Art of the Good Life on
self-pity:
-
Self-pity is one of the most
useless responses to life's
trials.
-
If you find yourself in a hole,
stop digging.
-
Not getting bogged down in
self-pity is a golden rule of
mental health. Accept the fact
that life isn't perfect - yours
or anyone else's.
More from Dobelli: "90% of
your worries are superfluous -
either because the problems
you're turning over in your mind
aren't really dangerous or
because you can't do anything
about them anyway."
At this moment in time, the plan is
working. Stay home and be
safe! And before you know it,
this will be over!
US:
557,590 cases
22,109 deaths
3.96% fatality rate (up)
Maryland:
8,936 cases
262 deaths
2.9% fatality rate (up)
In NYC, mitigation continues to
contribute to slow, deliberate
improvement. Lower rates
of new cases will translate into
a lower daily death rate as this
rolls forward.
Locally, at HCGH, the ER and
hospital continue to be in good
shape.
And if you had previously heard that
Sweden was successfully getting away
without any serious shelter in place
directives, take a look at this "How's
that working for you?"
Diagnostics
and Therapeutics:
nothing new to report!
Rainy Days and Mondays listen
to this as well as the song
following, We've
Only Just Begun, because we
have and it is slowly getting
better!
Reach out. Stay connected. Stay home. Save
lives. The power of one. Be well.
HAO
