Newsletter 7 - October 29, 2012
Dear Patients,
I hope all of you are safe and dry. The office is closed but I am available for any problems directly by cell phone. I am hopeful to have the office open tomorrow, depending on power. Please note that if you had an appointment today, we will be contacting you to reschedule as soon as we can. If you have any appointment related questions during the storm, please send an email to DrOkenInfo@gmail.com; we will be monitoring this email address throughout the day.
I also want to encourage you to stop by any morning between 8:30 and noon for a flu shot, or, if you have an upcoming appointment, we are happy to vaccinate you then. We have already had a few reported influenza cases in Maryland, however that can quickly increase. Please be advised that infected people with the flu shed the virus for about 24 hours before they have symptoms. Obviously, this makes influenza an easily transmissible illness, so be sure to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze using your lower arm, wash or sanitize your hands frequently and get your flu shot. A new publication suggests flu shots may also help prevent cardiovascular events. Lastly, re-enrollment materials will be sent out by US mail at the end of this week. Kindly let us know early on if regrettably you do not plan to re-enroll so we can expeditiously address our wait list.
Wishing you good health,
Harry A. Oken, MD |
